Vlog & Video: The Devil’s Work

So it’s 2012, which means we have less than 365 days until the end of the world (or so they say).  That’s probably bad news for most of us, but I’m sure there are some nifty optimists out there who could put a positive spin on it.  Whatever the case may be, it’s a new year, which means it’s time to hit the refresh button on life.  And what better way to do that than with a great novel. This week, I’m recommending Joe Hill’s novel, Horns.

For newcomers unfamiliar with this project, The ZS Roe Vlog is my place to share the best in storytelling. Every two weeks I’ll recommend a novel, short story, poem, or film, and bring you along to the places in which these stories have particular significance.

So, without further adieu, I give you:

Joe Hill's second novel, HORNS

Joe Hill’s Horns is a supernatural thriller that tells the story of Iggy Perrish, a young man who, after a night of heavy drinking and doing “awful things,” wakes up to find that he has grown a pair of devil’s horns.  Perhaps even more startling is his discovery that these horns have the power to make everyone he meets confess their deepest and darkest secrets to him.

But Ig has other problems to tend to.  Now a year after the brutal murder of his girlfriend, Ig has learned the identity of her killer.  And with his new set of horns and strange new powers to aid him, Ig sets out for the only thing that now matters: Revenge.

Vlog & Video is a rotating segment where I post a new Vlog for two weeks of every month; during the other two weeks, I post and comment on my favourite videos from around the web.  Please leave a comment or question—all opinions are welcome, and all contributions are greatly appreciated. 2. So…how is it that you are able to make just about every story very intriguing?? The publishers should be greasing your palm… 😉
