Vlog & Video: Twitter Sucks

It’s time again for me to share with you some of my favourite videos from around the web.  I try to keep things varied and interesting, sometimes even provocative (when occasion calls for it), and this week’s selection is no different.  From random sword play/dancing to Shia LaBeouf’s first go at filmmaking, this week’s videos have something for everyone.

TWITTER SUCKS
I’m a big fan of comedian Louis C. K.  Because he tends to be quite profane during his stand-up acts, I know that he won’t appeal to all audiences.  With that said, however, his appearances on TV are generally more family friendly.  Such is (sort of the case) with this clip here, filmed during his visit to the Conan show.

RAPPING BIEBER
I’ll just come out and say it:  I recently sat down and watched Justin Bieber: Never Say Never.  That’s right—the Justin Bieber movie.  I wasn’t tricked into it, and I certainly wasn’t paid to watch it.  Hell, I even kind of enjoyed it.  And while I’d never buy one of Bieber’s records, I will say this:  the kid has talent.  These days he’s been trying his hand at rapping, and (as far as I can tell) he’s pretty good at it … in a Top 40 kind of way.  See for yourself.

SWORD DANCING
This video is as random as they come, but I like it nonetheless.  It’s abrupt and comes completely out of nowhere, but showcases the kind of goofy nothingness the makes for the best childhood memories.

MODERN WARFARE—JONAH HILL
Jonah Hill has recently become the subject of much debate (among movie nerds, anyway).  The short of it is this:  can he still be funny after losing all that weight?  Personally, I think he can, but a lot of his fans remain unconvinced.  And so it might not come as a surprise to those fans that Hill is branching out a little and not leaning so heavily on his comic chops.  But is this commercial for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 the right path?  I honestly can’t say.  I’m not sure how casting big name stars like Hill and Sam Worthington works for this kind of product.  It’s interesting, but not really compelling.  What do you think?

SHIA’S MANIAC
I guess it’s pretty hip to hate on Shia LaBeouf—he has starred in some rather mediocre movies.  Still, I think the Hollywood star has the potential to do some really interesting things once he gets all the summer blockbusters out of his system.  With Maniac, a short film he directed, LaBeouf proves that he may just have more up his sleeve than we previously thought.  The short follows a film crew that is documenting the exploits of two serial killers.  Be warned: it contains graphic violence and disturbing imagery.

Vlog & Video is a rotating segment where I post a new Vlog for two weeks of every month; during the other two weeks, I post and comment on my favourite videos from around the web.  Please leave a comment or question—all opinions are welcome, and all contributions are greatly appreciated.
